Mobile Phone Haven

Most cellphone concepts looks really cool but none are ever really practical for everyday use. Here’s one that falls into that category, it’s a nameless concept designed by Marc Schomann. The mobile phone (if we can call it that) is divided into segments. One twist turns the phone on and there are 12 segments for you to twist when you have to dial.

The design for this concept was inspired by haptic technology and it’s the most “cryptic” phone out there (to my knowledge). So, if you like this design then prepare your wrists for a work out. You’ll be looking like Popeye in no time.

Looks like Apple might release a clamshell iPhone in the near future. This is an illustration of what it might look like found in a recent Apple patent application.

In a closed position, this clamshell becomes an ordinary slate tablet computer, with a multi-touch touchscreen. If you open the flip to up-to 160 degree angle, it becomes a normal laptop computer. Interesting concept if you ask me.

Finally a concept phone that focuses on greener technologies without lacking in design. The Atlas Kinetic cell phone is made from aluminum and glass. The generating unit is revealed through the central sapphire glass. The phone is powered by kinetic energy similar to that found in watches that use oscillating weight to power a mainspring.

The Morph by Nokia is based on nanotechnology developments. It has a detachable speaker that either clips onto the ear as a hands-free headset or connects to the main phone as a speaker. The nanotechnology provides for a touch screen display that is flexible and translucent. Don’t hold your breath though, it isn’t expected for another 8 years or so (hopefully). The Balance is a sweet fusion of luxury and smartphone. The titanium and stainless steel material along with its mechanism, shell-slide function, add to its exclusivity. The Balance concept phone combines the advantages of shell and slider in one phone. In the desk-stand mode, the phone can be used as a clock or a digital photo frame.

The Balance also features a 5.1 megapixel camera eqipped with auto focus, QuadLED assist light, 2x optical zoom all concealed by an active optical safer.
