With the release of the iPhone 4 and customers packing into stores, Verizon is hoping to dissuade some of those unsatisfied customers with their new all new Droid X smartphone. This new Droid competes with the Cupertino’s golden calf with some premium features like a huge 4.3 inch screen, Flash Compatibility, 8GBs of internal storage, a 16 GB memory card, 8 Megapixel camera, 720p HD video recording, HDMI out, and the popular Android 2.2 OS.

The first phone in the US with an e-ink keyboard that morphs between numeric, QWERTY, and other layouts. This follow-up to the dual-flip Alias also steps up to a 2 megapixel camera, large QVGA display, and support for business email and visual voicemail. Other features include EVDO data, memory card slot, and stereo Bluetooth. If you ask me, the E-ink technology is super cool enough.

A handset needs to offer fresh software, too. And the Krave’s software feels old—functional but stale. $149 with contract on Verizon.
